In shaping this film, we wanted to explore how tradition carries memory, identity, and connection. For many of us, jewelry is more than something we wear. It holds the stories of our families and the pride passed down through generations. And mascala is more than a game. Each move holds history. Each gesture reflects a bond that continues to grow.
This film is a tribute to that journey. By highlighting the craft of jewelry making and the quiet rhythm of mascala, my goal was to capture not only the beauty of these practices but also the way they reveal who we are. Tradition connects generations. It evolves, yet it remains a clear expression of our heritage.
Creating this work was a reminder that culture is not something distant or frozen in time. It is alive. It moves through our rituals and the stories we continue to share. Through this project, I wanted to celebrate how Malian tradition reflects unity and pride, standing as a symbol of identity and community across time.
